To schedule for an exam, applicants must first submit a formal application for licensure/certification and have this application approved. Formal applications are available on the "Forms & Applications" page of this website. Once application approval is granted applicants may submit an Examination Order Form with the appropriate examination fee.

The OCDP Board offers two testing options:

Paper/Pencil Testing:

Paper/pencil exams are offered four times a year (March, June, September and December) in Columbus, Ohio. Seating is limited for this exam option and is filled on a first come basis. Applicants who take this version of the exam will be given 3 ½ hours to complete the exam. Results of paper/pencil exams will be sent to applicants 6-8 weeks following the exam.

Computer Based Testing:

Computer based exams are open for a two week period in each of the following months: March, June, September and December. Computer based exams are available at a number of regional sites throughout Ohio and our border states. Most exam sites are open Monday - Saturday. Applicants will have the opportunity to schedule their own date, time and location within the two week period. Applicants who take this version of the exam will be given 3 hours to complete the exam. Preliminary results of the computer based exam are available to applicants upon completion of the exam and official results are sent to applicants 6-8 weeks following the exam.
