COVID-19 General Information

On behalf of the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board (OCDPB), I wanted to take a moment to give you a couple of informational updates during this uncertain time.  Watch for continued updates on the home page of the OCDP Board website throughout this state of emergency.  We encourage all Ohioans to follow all Ohio Department of Health (ODH) guidance issued during this crisis.  As always, the Department of Health hotline, 1-833-4-ASK-ODH and Coronavirus.Ohio.Gov are great resources for those who have questions.

Contacting the Board Office:  While we work remotely we are asking that you email info@ocdp.ohio.gov with questions, and the emails will be forwarded to the appropriate staff member. Individual staff members are also picking up their voice mail messages remotely. Staff may respond via private number, or through email, so please leave your name, license/certificate and number if you know it, and your email address on any voicemail.  Currently we are having difficulty retrieving voicemails left on our main office line.  Your patience is appreciated as response times may be delayed.

Telehealth:  Currently, the OCDP Board does not preclude any type of its treatment licensees/certificate holders from providing telehealth services.  Be advised that license/certificate holders should follow the OCDP Board website updates.  Those providing telehealth services should be cautious of the following:

  1. Follow all laws, rules, regulations, and executive orders.
  2. Stay within the bounds of your scope of practice!
  3. While the OCDP Board does not currently have a rule that addresses telehealth, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addition Services (OhioMHAS) has issued guidance that all CDCA, LCDC II and III and LICDC license/certificate holders should follow.  See links to:  Click OhioMHAS guidance (rule amendment) and telehealth resources.  Watch for updates directly through the OhioMHAS website.
  4. Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) rules must be followed for Medicaid billing.  See links to:  Ohio Administrative Code 5160-8-05, ODM’s 5160-1-21 Telehealth during a state of emergency and its appendix (new rule), and FAQ’s.  Watch for updates directly through the ODM website.

Telesupervision:  An emergency rule change is in process to allow the CDCA face to face supervision requirement to occur by teleconference or telephone.  It is unclear at this time if the rule would be applied retroactively to the date of Governor Dewine’s declared state of emergency, March 9, 2020.  Please follow our Board website for updates.

Continuing Education Providers & Sponsor

NOTICE: Education Providers and Sponsors:

As we all work together to adhere to the precautionary restrictions due to the COVID-19 crisis,  the OCDP Board is granting Sponsors and Providers the option to arrange different delivery methods for the trainings previously approved by the Board.   This option is offered for the duration of the Governors state of emergency for COVID-19 with the stipulation that there be no changes to the course curriculum/content and no changes to the course Presenters.

IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: IC & RC EXAMS/TEST CENTERS

Due to COVID-19,  Effective Immediately, and for a period of 30 days from today, ALL IC & RC EXAM TESTING SERVICES ARE HALTED throughout the United States and Canada.

IC & RC teams are actively reaching out to individuals with testing appointments today and throughout the closure period.  IC& RC will be taking measures to reschedule those impacted appointments into a new date after the planned re-opening and will be communicating that information to the impacted individuals.  IC &RC will work closely with the test takers to find new appointment dates and times that work for their schedules, and we will be waiving any rescheduling fees.

If you have any questions, kindly email  office@internationalcredentialing.org and they will respond as quickly as possible.

Examination Extension

Due to the COVID-19 national emergency the OCDP Board is granting a 3 month extension (when the testing centers re-open) to those exam candidates who paid their exam fee but were unable to test within their 6 month testing window.  The 6 month testing window must fall between 3/9/2020 through the time the testing centers re-open.

Those exam candidates who have not paid the exam fee, and their one year exam window is expiring (within the COVID-19 state of emergency beginning 3/9/2020) must pay their exam fee prior to the expiration of their exam time frame to receive the 3 month extension after the state of emergency ends and the testing centers are open.

The above extension is subject to change depending on circumstances.
